Environmental Benefits
Build It Green home environmental benefits
A Build It Green home is environmentally friendly for several reasons: the panels we use are made from wood which is sourced from managed plantations, and timber is seen as one the most green materials to use in construction, because not only do trees produce oxygen and remove carbon dioxide from our atmosphere but timber is the only truly renewable building material. Other environmental benefits include:
- Building with SIPs produces less waste than other forms of construction, because any waste created in the manufacturing and cutting of the pre engineered panels can be recycled - which is better for our planet's ever-increasing problem of waste disposal.
- SIPs use up to 50% less raw timber in construction, compared with conventional timber frame buildings.
- A Build It Green home is energy efficient meaning that less non-renewable fossil fuels are consumed when heating the space available. Therefore enabling our customers to take positive action to reduce co2 omissions and the global warming effect.
- Traditional timbre frame buildings have many environmental benefits, but structural insulated panels out perform timber frame construction in many ways and use approximately 50% less wood, which makes Build It Greens structural insulated panels the greenest option.
- During the manufacturing process of the panels very little energy is used. Compared with concrete, wood uses 5 times less energy
to produce a product of the same strength. - Both the OSB wood and the EPS
insulation core of the panel
can be recycled,and
a water-based non-
toxic glue is used
during
manufacturing.
